Mondo Pajaritos Truffles are fresh Psilocybe sclerotia of medium potency, produced in controlled facilities in the Netherlands under the usual quality standards of the Mondo catalogue. Within their scale, they occupy an intermediate position, above the Mexicana and at a similar level to the Tampanensis in alkaloid concentration, though with a clearly differentiated profile. Collectors and researchers have reported a more communicative and socially open character compared to the more introspective side of other varieties of equivalent range.
Its name refers to the reduced size of each individual sclerotium, a characteristic morphological trait of this variety and one of its most immediate identifiers.
The Pajaritos belong to the lineage of Psilocybe mexicana, the species in which Albert Hofmann first isolated psilocybin in 1958 and whose ritual use in Mesoamerica has been documented for over two millennia. The Aztecs knew it as teonanácatl, "sacred mushroom" in Nahuatl, and its presence in ceremonial contexts is one of the most solid ethnobotanical records of the Psilocybe genus. The Pajaritos inherit this lineage with its own morphological identity: sclerotia of notably reduced size and an alkaloid profile of moderate and consistent concentration across batches.
