The Melmac Thrasher variety, also known as Thrasher Penis Envy, is a recent and powerful addition to the Psilocybe cubensis universe. It stems from the cross between two legendary strains: the famous Penis Envy and its lesser-known but equally potent relative, Melmac. The result is a hybrid strain that stands out for its extraordinary strength and vigorous fruiting.

Penis Envy is one of the most sought-after strains by growers and psychonauts, renowned for its large fruiting bodies and above-average potency. On the other hand, Melmac brings a robust structure, an intense psychedelic profile, and a character reminiscent of early genetics developed in the 1970s. This variety is easy to grow, even for beginners. Under optimal temperature (23–25 °C) and humidity (over 80%) conditions, the cake yields an abundant production of impressive fruiting bodies: light brown caps and thick stems, often larger than standard.

Due to their size, slicing the fruiting bodies before drying may be necessary to aid preservation.
