Copelandia Hawaiian, scientifically known as Panaeolus cyanescens, is a type of psychoactive mushroom that has attracted great interest in the mycological community. Although their cultivation is more demanding than other varieties such as Psilocybe cubensis, their fame is due to their extraordinary psilocybin and psilocin content, which can be up to five times higher.
These mushrooms are distinguished by their thin, fragile stems and their characteristic blue hue when handled. Native to tropical and subtropical regions around the world, they gained notoriety after their spread to Hawaii, which gave rise to their popular name. Their high potency makes them one of the most valued species by researchers and psychoactive mushroom enthusiasts alike.
Effects of Copelandia Hawaiian
In the case of accidental consumption of the mushrooms, the main effects of the consumption of Copelandia Hawaiian are - in summary - the following:
- Very high potency: psychedelic effects intensified by its high concentration of psilocybin.
- Euphoria: Deep happiness, focus on the present and dissolution of the perception of time.
- Sensory hallucinations: More vibrant colors and sounds; visual/spatial distortions at high doses (no unreal hallucinations).
- Temporal/spatial disturbance: Slowed time and difficulty with simple tasks.
- Spiritual experiences: Connection with nature, the universe and self-knowledge (common for high potency).
- Creativity and meditation: Altered thought patterns, ideal for introspection or artistic expression.

📕 Keep in mind that this variety is much more delicate than Psilocybe cubensis. Therefore, it is crucial to maintain a higher level of hygiene to avoid contamination, as well as to ensure constant and adequate humidity throughout the cultivation.
The steps to follow are as follows:
- Distribute the substrate: carefully spread the additional substrate over the mycelium, making sure to cover it evenly over the entire surface.
- Moisten the substrate: Gently spray bottled mineral water over the substrate with a spray bottle, maintaining a light humidity without puddling.
- Prepare the environment: To condition the grow bag and heated mini-greenhouse, add 2 cm of running tap water along with a small splash of hydrogen peroxide.
- Place the kit: Insert the kit inside the growing bag and keep the lid for later use when needed.
- Partially close the bag: Seal the bag leaving a 2-3 cm opening in the zipper to allow air circulation and gas exchange.
- Control the temperature: Maintain a constant temperature between 21 and 26 °C, using a thermohygrometer and, in winter, a thermal blanket to ensure adequate warmth.
- Regulate humidity: Ensure humidity is maintained between 90% and 100% by spraying water 1 to 3 times a day on the inner walls of the bag with an atomizer.
- Ventilate daily: Open the bag each day and ventilate it slightly with the kit lid to renew fresh air and prevent carbon dioxide buildup, which could slow down the formation of primordia.
- Increase ventilation: Once the first mushrooms appear, ventilate the bag twice a day to encourage their development.
- Wait for primordia: The first shoots (primordia) should emerge 5 to 10 days after establishing ideal fruiting conditions.
- Harvest mushrooms: When mushrooms release spores or stop growing, remove them carefully, pulling gently from the base of the stem until they come off cleanly.
For a second harvest, moisten the surface without puddling without dipping or refrigerating. Keep humidity high by spraying 1-3 times/day, avoiding wetting mushrooms directly.
